So this is Christmas

December 26, 2009 by bertram

This year I chose to have a solitary Christmas. Enough with all the hoo hah, the over indulging and what I see as the loss of meaning of what used to be a simple and straightforward family day. Cynical; you might say!

It is not helped by the fact that I do not see my children at all, which puts a different complexion to the whole thing.

And yet the Universe was at it’s best urging me to watch the movie ‘Zeitgeist,’ which I did and it seemed ironic if not paradoxical that I should watch this on Christmas day.

If you have not seen the DVD, I urge you to get it asap and be informed about what is going on in our world. It is an eye opener for sure and makes you think and think and think!

The movie covers many subjects and one is the part played by the Sun in our Universe. It also touches on the Stars and the Zodiac. It is interesting to note that the Zodiac represents the Sun passing through the 12 major constellations though the year, the 4 seasons, the Solstices and the Equinoxes.

The Egyptians called it “God’s Sun” – the light of the world and when you come to think about it, where would we be without the Sun. No life could exist without it!

It is interesting to note that the Egyptians had a Sun God by the name of ‘Horus.’ Bear in mind this was 3000 BC. Interesting that he was born on December 25th of the virgin Isis-Meri. His birth was accompanied by a star in the east and upon his birth he was adored by 3 kings. Sound familiar?

At age 12 he was a prodigal child teacher and at 30 was baptised by Anup. He had 12 disciples, was crucified, buried and was resurrected in 3 days. You’ve heard this before, haven’t you?

What is even more puzzling is that this same chain of events occurred to others; namely Attis, Krishna, Dionysius and Mithra. So what is the explanation? You will have to watch the movie now!

If you follow the Sun and the stars you will note that the brightest star on December 24th is Sirius when it aligns with the three brightest stars in Orions belt called the 3 Kings and they all point to the place of the sunrise on December 25th. near the constellation Virgo (Virgin) also referred to as the ‘House of Bread.’ Interesting that Bethlehem translates to ‘House of Bread.’ Can you see the connection? Virgin, bright star, 3 Kings, Bethlehem.

If you read Dr John Demartini’s post on Facebook, this is what he says about Christmas.

Christmas day is a day of light, grace and love. It is a reminder of the return of the light to the world after the darkest night and shortest day of the year (northern hemisphere). It is a reminder to see our magnificent reflection in others and to show our gratitude for their contribution to our lives. May this day be filled with a deep appreciation for what is, as it is ? reflected throughout the universe.

It is also interesting that on the 22nd of December Sun stops moving for 3 days and then moves one degree on the 25th of December.

So where is this all taking us? An inscription on the walls of the temple of Luxor in Egypt, 3500 years ago depicted the Virgin birth. The literary similarities between the Egyptian and Christian religions are staggering.

So, I hope that I have not confused you, but given you food for thought and I can say for a fact that ‘Zeitgeist’ will give you much more to think about!

In peace and love

Thoughts

October 15, 2009 by bertram

After my morning meditation today I picked up Wayne Dyer’s book ‘Ten secrets for success and inner peace’ (which by the way is a brilliant book) and what I read I thought I would share it with you.

Suppose you had a choice between two magic wands. With Wand A, you can have any physical thing you desire by simply waving it. With Wand B, you can have a sense of peace for the rest of their life regardless of what circumstances arise. Which would you pick? A guarantee of stuff, or inner piece for the remainder of your life? If you opt for peace, then you already have Wand B. Simply have a mind that is open to everything but attached to nothing. Let it all come and go as it were. Enjoy it all, but never make your happiness or success dependent on an attachment to anything, any place, and particularly, any person.

I hope you enjoyed that.

Our Values

August 3, 2009 by bertram

A few weekends ago I attended the ‘Breakthrough Experience’ with Dr. John Demartini and I can say without a shadow of a doubt that it has changed the way that I think: in a good way. As it has given me a different perspective on many fronts and one of them is ‘Values’.

When you stop to think about it everyone has a set of values that relate to all areas of their lives. That is : Vocational, Familial, Spiritual, Mental, Financial, Social and Physical. Considering that no two people have had the same set of experiences and the same upbringing, it is fair to say that each person would have a set of values that is unique to them. That said, how could any two people agree with each other on every value. There are bound to be differences in many areas. So when someone does something or says something that conflicts with another persons values there are grounds for disagreement. So how do you handle this?

From my experience people will disagree in a number of different ways and usually want to change the other person’s actions or statements. Some may even get quite emotional about it and create some passionate argument for change to occur. Some might even become aggressive with it.

My point here is simply this. If you consider that everyone who walks the planet has their own unique set of values and are entitled to them, there should be no misunderstanding, because it is just another persons view based on THEIR set of values and NOT YOURS.

I don’t know about you, but when I got this, it made me understand that if someone said something or did something that was in conflict with my values, that I could make an effort to see it from their point of view and their set of values.

So, being careless means talking in terms of your values and not others.
Being caring means communicating your values in terms of others.
Being careful means talking in terms of others values but not yours.

The power of the subconscious

June 21, 2009 by bertram

I was walking past an office building the other day and I noticed three men standing outside the building puffing on their cigarettes. What amazed me was that it was an insurance office and I could not help but think that these men who worked in the insurance industry must be aware of the statistics about smokers. I know that if you are a smoker; your insurance policy will have a loading on it and it will cost you more than a non-smoker.

So why would anyone who understands the frightening statistics about the health hazards of smoking continue to smoke?

I put it down to a number of different reasons including nicotine addiction, but the one that stands out for me is the power of the subconscious mind.

We now know that over 90% of what we do is governed by our subconscious mind. Yes, if you didn’t know that read it again. Over 90% of what you do is controlled by your subconscious. The beauty of it is that you can decide with your conscious mind, that you want to change a habit. The reality is that if you do not have the subconscious on your side you will not achieve it. I guess, it is like your conscious mind is the captain of the ship and the crew is the subconscious. The captain can give the orders, but if the crew don’t carry them out, it will not happen.

With that in mind it is important to ask how could anyone use their subconscious to help and assist them. There are numerous Cd’s, books and videos on this subject and the simplest would have to be through meditation. When in a relaxed state a persons subconscious mind is more open and able to accessed with new information that creates new neural pathways (new habits). Our old habits (old neural pathways) can be changed.

Another very effective way is to use a Life Coach. A good Life Coach will help and assist you to see where you are in life, then look at where you want to go in life and close that gap and get you there in a relatively short space of time, which includes getting rid of old bad habits. A good life Coach will be skilled in relating to your subconscious mind so that the changes you want and need to make happen; quickly and effectively.

The word – CAN’T

May 13, 2009 by bertram

When I was a young boy my grandmother used to say to me, “there is no such word as can’t.”

When you stop to think about it that is literally and metaphorically true, because the word is ‘cannot’.

Can’t is a word that is banned in my house. I like to substitute it for won’t.

Whatever situation you are in, whatever problems you are facing, however difficult….there is always a way out if you look (and then work) hard enough.

You already have the solutions to your problems – yet you may think that you are unable to see a ‘way out’.  Someone, somewhere, has been in the same situation (or worse) as you and now lives a happy, successful, and balance life.

How did they do it?

They accepted that THEY, and only they, were responsible for where and who they were and where and who they wanted to be in the future.

The first step is getting rid of your attachment to negative words – can’t being the first one.

Action Point:

What won’t you do that you think you can’t?

It is easy to find excuses where stepping out of your comfort zone’ is concerned.

We all do it, but very few people tackle it head on and just ignore that little voice saying that they can’t do something.
